James Cook University (JCU) is seeking an experienced clinician and educator to join our College of Medicine and Dentistry as Senior Lecturer, Adult Health. This part-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality teaching, clinical coordination, and research in a dynamic and socially accountable medical program.

About the Role

As Senior Lecturer, Adult Health, you will:

  • Coordinate and deliver Adult Health (medicine) components of clinical rotations in Years 5 and 6 of the MBBS program.
  • Facilitate student placements, teaching, and assessment, ensuring access to patients and clinicians.
  • Contribute to collaborative research and teaching across the Clinical School.
  • Support the College’s mission to improve health outcomes for rural, remote, and underserved communities.

About You

We are looking for a passionate medical educator who brings:

  • Registration as a medical practitioner in Australia and Fellowship or Advanced Trainee status with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (or equivalent).
  • Extensive clinical experience in internal medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience in undergraduate medical education.
  • Understanding of rural and remote health issues and a commitment to JCU’s values, including respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Desirable:

  • Research experience and publications in internal medicine.
  • Experience in rural or remote clinical practice.
  • Willingness to undertake further training in medical education.
