James Cook University’s College of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking an experienced clinical academic to contribute to the delivery of high-quality medical education in the Townsville Clinical School.

The Opportunity

In this part-time leadership and teaching role, you will coordinate and deliver the surgery components of the MBBS clinical years, ensuring students have meaningful access to patients, clinicians, and learning experiences that meet curriculum objectives. Working within an integrated and supportive academic team, you will play an important role in preparing future doctors for practice in northern Australia.

This position also contributes to clinical assessment, collaborative research activity, and ongoing refinement of the MBBS curriculum.

What You’ll Bring

  • A health-related Bachelor’s degree and a PhD (or equivalent), with eligibility for medical registration in Australia.

  • Extensive clinical experience in surgery and adult health.

  • Proven capability in teaching, supervising, and assessing medical students.

  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities in regional, rural and remote health education.

  • A developing track record in research and scholarly activity.
