We now have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Laboratory and Technical Support Officer (Clinical Sciences) to join our Cairns Laboratory and Technical Support team.
- Full time, continuing – 36.25 hours per week
- Based at JCU Cairns Nguma-bada campus
- HEWL 5 Remuneration is $76,633 - $ 86,920, plus up to 17% employer superannuation with UniSuper.
- A 2.75% pay rise effective from December 31, 2025
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
In this role, you'll play a crucial part in delivering exceptional educational experiences for Nursing, Midwifery and Medicine undergraduate students. Your responsibilities include delivering technical support and equipment use for undergraduate classes, intensives, workshops and rotations, ensuring all activities are delivered in accordance with established procedures and safety and hygiene legislation.
Your role will extend to administration outcomes for the area by obtaining quotes, raising purchase orders and maintaining stock levels, ensuring consumables, equipment and teaching resources are readily available for efficient daily operations.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Degree qualifications and relevant experience or a combination of experience and education.
- Experience with clinical and simulation laboratories, relevant to health professional education and training.
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS legislation and its practical application within a laboratory.
- Informed analytical and problem-solving skills to judge shifting priorities and conflicting deadlines, taking corrective action.
- Effective written and oral communication skills including interpersonal skills, to deliver customer centric service with positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a high-volume environment.
- Effective computer and data entry skills using the Microsoft Office suite and ability to adapt to the use of new software packages with high attention to detail.
- Current First Aid Certificate;
- Current C Class Queensland Driver’s license; and
- Current Working with Children Blue Card.
