- Full-time, continuing position, based at Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas.
- HEWL 6: $88,391 - $95,736, plus up to 17% employer superannuation
- A 2.75% pay rise effective from December 31, 2025
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
As a Laboratory & Technical Support Advisor at JCU, your direct involvement in the care of large agricultural animals and management of their facilities will be instrumental in supporting future veterinary professionals, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality technical support that underpins the success of veterinary science teaching.
Your work ensures students receive immersive, real-world experience that prepares them for veterinary practice. You’ll oversee the preparation of practical classes, ensure animal welfare standards are upheld, and maintain facilities and equipment at the highest standard. Your attention to safety and animal husbandry will support JCU’s commitment to excellence in education and research.
By joining a collaborative and supportive team, you’ll also have opportunities to supervise and train others in safe animal handling and best practices, directly impacting future generations of veterinary professionals.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE
You’ll bring strong practical experience in handling large agricultural animals, and a demonstrated ability to manage farm facilities and equipment in a safe, efficient, and welfare-focused manner.
Your understanding of WHS legislation, combined with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment, will allow you to manage risks and deliver high-quality service. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will support your ability to work with students, academic staff, and colleagues alike.
Additionally, you’ll hold the following certifications and requirements:
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current C and MR Class Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Working with Children Blue Card
- Q Fever vaccination or proof of immunity
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends when required
