Passionate about creating engaging communications and student experiences? Join JCU as a Communications and Engagement Officer, where you'll create digital content, support student engagement initiatives and help deliver events that connect and inspire our student community.

  • Full-time, Fixed Term to February 2028 – 36.25 hours per week
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
  • HEWL 5: $78,740.56 - $89,310.33 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

In this role, you'll help create a positive and engaging experience for JCU students through communications, digital content and events. You'll develop and share content across a variety of channels, helping students stay informed, connected and supported throughout their time at university.

Working closely with colleagues across the University, you'll assist with the planning and delivery of student events and engagement activities, ensuring they run smoothly and provide a great experience for students. You'll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, initiative and new ideas.

WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE

We're looking for someone who enjoys communicating with people and creating content that connects with different audiences. You'll have qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Events or a related field, or an equivalent combination of skills, experience and training.

You have experience producing content for digital and print channels and are comfortable using Microsoft Office and a range of communication and content management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a good eye for detail, will help you deliver clear, accurate and engaging communications.

You'll be organised, able to manage competing priorities, and confident working with a range of stakeholders. Experience supporting events, photography, videography or working in a higher education environment will be well regarded.
