You will deliver essential teaching in acute care, cardiorespiratory and rural and remote physiotherapy, helping ensure JCU graduates develop the knowledge and practical capabilities required for professional practice.
About the role
As Associate Lecturer/Lecturer, Physiotherapy, you will coordinate and deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, with a particular focus on acute care, cardiorespiratory and rural and remote physiotherapy practice.
Your contribution will support the delivery of these important areas of practice to the standard required for program accreditation. You will develop and review contemporary learning materials, deliver practical classes and tutorials, coordinate subjects, assess student learning and provide academic and pastoral support.
Depending on your level of appointment, you will also have opportunities to develop your scholarship and research profile, supervise Honours and postgraduate students, contribute to grant applications and collaborate with clinicians, researchers and community partners.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in acute care, cardiorespiratory and rural and remote physiotherapy.
- Coordinate subjects and undertake assessment and moderation in accordance with University policies and accreditation requirements.
- Develop and review learning materials to support contemporary, evidence-informed physiotherapy education.
- Deliver face-to-face practical classes, tutorials and online learning activities.
- Provide academic guidance and pastoral support that enables students to succeed.
- Develop scholarship and research activities within your areas of expertise.
- Build collaborative relationships with clinicians, researchers and professional networks.
- Supervise Honours and postgraduate students, as appropriate to the level of appointment.
- Contribute to the academic, administrative and collegial activities of the Discipline of Physiotherapy and the College of Healthcare Sciences.
About you
You are an enthusiastic physiotherapy professional who is passionate about developing capable, work-ready graduates. You enjoy sharing your clinical knowledge, creating practical learning experiences and working collaboratively within an interprofessional environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A qualification in Physiotherapy and eligibility for registration with AHPRA
- Clinical experience in physiotherapy practice, ideally including acute care, cardiorespiratory and/or rural and remote settings.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and within an interprofessional team.
- A commitment to high-quality physiotherapy education and student success.
Additional Requirements for Academic Level B
In addition to the above, Level B applicants will have:
- A postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy or a related field, or equivalent experience in physiotherapy education.
- Experience in curriculum development, teaching innovation and quality assurance.
- Experience coordinating subjects and contributing to academic administration and governance.
- The capacity to supervise Honours and/or postgraduate research students.
