Are you passionate about empowering rural students to achieve their academic dreams? Join James Cook University's Academy Executive Support team in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands and make a meaningful difference in students' lives.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Rural Student Coordinator, you'll be the vital link connecting rural and remote students with the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive at JCU. Working within our dynamic Academy Executive Support team, you'll develop and implement targeted programs that address the unique challenges faced by students from rural backgrounds.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design and deliver tailored support programs for rural students
- Coordinate mentorship initiatives and peer support networks
- Collaborate with academic staff to identify at-risk students
- Organize workshops on study skills, financial literacy, and career planning
- Maintain strong relationships with rural communities and schools
- Assist with student recruitment and retention strategies
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Understanding of rural communities and their educational challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in student services, education, or community development
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and genuine care for student success
