James Cook University (JCU) is seeking an experienced Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery with expertise in Diabetes Education to join our dedicated academic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and clinical education in a world-class university committed to improving health outcomes in tropical, rural, and remote communities.
What you’ll do
- Develop, coordinate, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in diabetes education, nursing, and/or midwifery.
- Design engaging learning activities and assessments using flexible, blended, and online approaches.
- Contribute to research and scholarship in nursing, midwifery, and diabetes education.
- Provide clinical supervision and support for students as required.
- Engage with professional, community, and academic networks to advance JCU’s mission.
What we’re looking for
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife (or both) with AHPRA.
- Credentialed and experienced Diabetes Educator in Australia.
- A Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline (or significant progress towards completion).
- Demonstrated clinical experience and expertise in diabetes education.
- Experience in flexible and online teaching approaches.
- Ability to address issues unique to tropical, regional, remote, and Indigenous health contexts.
Desirable:
- Experience in curriculum development and cross-cultural teaching in tertiary education.
- Evidence of research and publication activity appropriate to career stage.
