We now have an opportunity available for a passionate and experienced Academic to join our team within the College of Science and Engineering as a Lecturer, Animal Ecology. 

  • Full-time; continuing
  • Academic Level B - $109,791 - $129, 547 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas.

About the opportunity 

The Lecturer, Animal Ecology will be a dynamic and innovative academic with a passion for teaching, a strong research track record, and the ability to contribute to our vibrant research and teaching environment.

The Lecturer, Animal Ecology will have expertise in terrestrial animal ecology, with demonstrated interest in understanding how human-driven changes—such as climate change, land use change, and/or invasive species—affect animal populations and biodiversity. The role involves teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in ecology and conservation biology, supervising Honours and higher-degree research students, and building a productive, externally funded research program.

Candidates with a research focus on monitoring the impacts of anthropogenic change on biodiversity will be highly regarded. 

 

What you can bring to the role 

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated research expertise in terrestrial animal ecology, with a focus on anthropogenic impacts on biodiversity.
  • Evidence of teaching ability at the tertiary level.
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications and potential for securing competitive research funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise honours and postgraduate research students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of engagement and impact outside the University environment.
