James Cook University (JCU) is creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally and globally.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Client Services Advisor to join our team in the Student Services and Support Directorate. The Client Services Advisor plays a key role in delivering high-quality, client-focused services that support effective enquiry management, resource coordination and continuous improvement within the Client Services team.

  • Full-time, continuing position
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
  • HEWL 6: $90,821 - $98,369 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working closely with the Team Leader, this role plays a key part in monitoring day-to-day operations, managing enquiry queues, and supporting rostering, events, and student presentations. As the first point of escalation for complex student enquiries, you will provide timely and accurate advice that aligns with relevant policies and procedures. The position also involves identifying opportunities to streamline processes, contributing to service delivery improvements, and supporting quality assurance activities that maintain data integrity and minimise risk.

You will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the University, building strong relationships and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture. Your strong communication skills and professional approach will enable you to confidently engage with students and staff, managing enquiries and complaints with discretion and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To succeed, you will bring relevant qualifications and proven experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You will be highly organised, adaptable and comfortable managing competing priorities, with strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems are essential.

This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact, grow your skills, and contribute to an organisation committed to service excellence.
