Looking for a change of pace and purpose?

Ready to lead the future of rural nutrition and dietetics?

Are you an Accredited Dietitian with a passion for improving nutrition outcomes in rural and remote communities? Do you want to step beyond traditional clinical caseloads and help shape the next generation of dietitians?

The Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health (CQCRRH) is seeking an Allied Health Clinical Educator – Dietitian to support clinical and community/public health nutrition student placements in Emerald.

This is a non-traditional, education-focused role centred on student supervision, service learning, and meaningful community impact.

Why this role is different

  • No billables and low KPI pressure
This role prioritises learning, support, and professional growth over productivity targets.
  • Education-focused, not output-driven
Contribute to innovative service-learning models rather than high-volume clinical services.
  • Supported transition into education and supervision
Prior academic teaching or student supervision experience is not required.
  • Make a genuine community impact
Work closely with local services and communities to address unmet health needs.

The role

Allied Health Clinical Leads at CQCRRH provide support and supervision to Allied Health students throughout innovative interdisciplinary placements. They support students to develop clinical and rural generalist skills working with communities across the lifespan. Placements are based on a service-learning model which is a contemporary approach to remote service provision and workforce development.

As an Allied Health Clinical Lead – Dietician, you will:

  • Support and supervise Dietician students in discipline-specific and allied health students in interdisciplinary placements
  • Contribute to innovative service-learning programs for adults and children in areas of high or unmet need
  • Mentor students, and support rural clinicians, and rural generalist trainees
  • Collaborate with local health services, community stakeholders, and CQCRRH colleagues
  • Contribute to workforce development initiatives and rural health research evidence
  • Support CQCRRH KPIs, reconciliation commitments, and JCU values

Placements are delivered using a service-learning model, integrating education, service provision, and community partnership.

You will be supported to

  • Share your clinical expertise to guide, teach and inspire students
  • Develop and deliver creative placement activities aligned to community needs
  • Build confidence in clinical education and supervision
  • Contribute to interprofessional practice and rural workforce development
  • Grow your leadership capability in a supportive, collaborative environment

About you

You are a qualified Dietician with:

  • A recognised tertiary qualification in Dietetics
  • Current registration
  • Experience in Rural and Remote Health and Practice (or a willingness to learn)
  • An interest in education, mentoring, or workforce development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience (or interest) in program or project coordination

Serving Communities. Educating Futures.

CQCRRH delivers innovative, student-assisted, interprofessional service-learning programs across rural, remote, and outback Queensland. These programs strengthen local service capacity while preparing a work-ready allied health workforce.

Why join us?

This role offers the opportunity to try something new without being thrown in the deep end. You’ll be supported, encouraged, and valued as you develop your skills as a mentor and educator—while making a genuine difference to future Dieticians, particularly in rural and regional contexts.

We also offer:

  • A generous superannuation scheme with up to 17% employer contributions
  • 29 hour full-time working week
  • 5 weeks pro rata annual recreation leave plus leave loading
  • 15 days paid sick/carers leave per year
  • Cash out annual leave
