- Full time opportunity | 36.25 hours per week
- Located at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
- HEWL 7: $99,878 – $110,446 plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
ABOUT THE ROLE
James Cook University Library is seeking an experienced and collaborative Academic Partnership Librarian to provide specialist, discipline‑focused library support that enhances teaching, learning, and research across the University.
This role works in close partnership with academic and professional staff to embed information and research expertise into curricula, learning platforms, and research practices. Acting as the primary library liaison for allocated Colleges and Institutes, the Academic Partnership Librarian builds strong relationships to ensure library services, resources, and expertise are strategically aligned with academic priorities and deliver measurable learning and research outcomes.
- Collaborating with academic and professional staff to embed library resources, tools, and expertise within teaching, learning, and research platforms and disciplinary contexts.
- Acting as the primary liaison for allocated Colleges and Institutes, delivering tailored library services that support teaching, learning, and research priorities.
- Integrating information literacy and digital fluency into curricula and co‑curricular activities to develop students’ critical evaluation skills and ethical information practices.
- Designing and delivering learning activities that build research capability, scholarly communication skills, and academic integrity across College and Institute cohorts.
- Identifying and implementing efficiencies through artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to automate routine tasks, personalise learning support, and enhance information discovery.
- Driving continuous improvement of library services through benchmarking, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
- Qualifications and experience in Library and Information Science or a related discipline, aligned with the appropriate Higher Education Worker Level under the Enterprise Agreement.
- Extensive experience in academic library practice or a comparable large, complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead academic liaison initiatives and strategically integrate library services within teaching and research environments.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate, and build effective working relationships across all levels of the University and its Institutes.
- Proven experience identifying and implementing business improvement initiatives that contribute to effective and efficient service delivery.
Position Requirements
- Eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
- Travel between JCU campuses may be required from time to time.
