We now have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Analyst to join our team on a journey of transformation. The position is full time, continuing role can be based at either the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus or Cairns Nguma-bada campus in picturesque tropical North Queensland.

  • HEWL 7: $97,205- $107,490 with up to 17% employer superannuation contributions
  • Based in Townsville or Cairns
  • A 2.75% pay rise from Dec 31 2025

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE 

In this opportunity you will be responsible for ensuring JCUs digital information systems meet the strategic and operational needs of the organization. To achieve this, you will deliver technical expertise to respond to alerts and service requests and will monitor application performance. This role will maintain strong and collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure technology solutions meet University business needs.

Joining our dynamic team on a journey of change in a fast-paced environment, you will facilitate process improvements, upgrades and enhancements and deliver innovative solutions to application problems. 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE 

To ensure success in this role, you will hold degree qualifications and have experience supporting enterprise digital information systems with a proven ability to identify, diagnose and provide appropriate solutions to application errors, process inefficiencies and system improvements. Experience in developing, supporting and testing of data and reporting solutions and an ability to write and utilise SQL and other scripting/programming languages are inherent requirements of this role. 

Significant organization, time management and problem-solving skills, coupled with high level communication skills and ability to review and implement business improvement initiatives are imperative to achieving quality performance outcomes in this challenging role. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate competence in one of the following technologies: JAVA, HTML, SML/SXXLT, SQL and Reporting tools such as Cognos, Crystal Reports or PowerBI. 

Whilst not mandatory, it would be advantageous to have experience working in the higher education sector and familiarity with systems such as Student Management, HR/Payroll and Finance.
