Join JCU and play a key role in enhancing the discoverability, accessibility and long-term preservation of our library collections to support learning, teaching and research outcomes.

We're seeking a Resource Discovery Librarian to join our amazing team and enhance the library experience.

  • Full-time, continuing – 36.25 hours per week
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
  • HEWL 6: $90,821 - $98,369 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

As a Resource Discovery Librarian, you will contribute to the effective delivery of library services by:

  • Creating, maintaining and enhancing high-quality metadata records across physical, digital and electronic collections
  • Developing and refining workflows for cataloguing, metadata and discovery services, while mentoring team members to support capability and consistency
  • Strengthening discovery systems through the application of metadata standards, emerging technologies and best-practice approaches
  • Improving thesis compliance and discoverability by working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate access and high-quality processes
  • Supporting evidence-based collection development through data harvesting, analysis and reporting to inform decision-making
  • Assisting in the configuration and maintenance of library systems to ensure reliable access and performance for users

 

WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in Library and Information Science (or a related discipline)
  • Experience working with library and discovery systems, including applying metadata standards, controlled vocabularies and creating high-quality records
  • Understanding of collection lifecycle management, including development, evaluation and deselection processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and deliver responsive, client-focused services
