James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a passionate and skilled Research Project Officer to join a collaborative initiative aimed at improving the provision of information for parents whose children undergo cardiac surgery.
This exciting opportunity is part of the PULSE Project, a pilot collaboration between JCU, Townsville University Hospital, HeartKids, and the Australia and New Zealand Congenital Outcomes Registry for Surgery.
The successful candidate will lead and facilitate research activities including design and implementation of surveys, focus groups, interviews, and co-design workshops with health professionals and parents. This role involves working collaboratively with a research team, contributing to project planning, data analysis and the translation of findings into actionable insights.
What you’ll be doing:

Building strong relationships with stakeholders including parents, clinicians, and partner organisations.

Coordinating and conducting high-quality data collection and analysis.

Facilitating inclusive co-design workshops to inform meaningful project outcomes.

Producing clear and impactful research reports and plain language summaries.

Ensuring ethical compliance and secure data management throughout the project.
What you’ll bring:

A degree in a health-related field and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.

Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with diverse populations.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
