Join James Cook University's College of Medicine & Dentistry team in Cairns as a Part Time Principal Research Fellow, Indigenous Men's Health Promotion. This role offers the chance to lead meaningful research that directly impacts Indigenous men's health outcomes across Australia.
- 4 Years Fixed Term - Part Time - 14.5 hrs per week
- Academic Level D - $164,231 - $180,463pa pro-rata + generous employer superannuation up to 17%
- This position is identified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people
Based in tropical Cairns, at our Nguma-bada campus, you'll work alongside dedicated researchers and community partners to advance understanding and improve health promotion strategies for Indigenous men. This position recognizes the unique health challenges faced by Indigenous communities and seeks to develop culturally appropriate, evidence-based solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design and conduct high-quality research projects focused on Indigenous men's health promotion
- Build and maintain respectful partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations
- Mentor emerging researchers and contribute to grant applications
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national conferences
- Collaborate with health services to translate research into practice
- Engage with community stakeholders to ensure research meets real-world needs
What We're Looking For
- PhD in public health, medicine, social sciences, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in Indigenous health research
- Strong understanding of culturally appropriate research methodologies
- Proven track record of publications and successful grant applications
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse communities
- Commitment to ethical research practices and community engagement
