We are seeking a dynamic and student-focused Learning Advisor to join our dedicated team committed to enhancing the academic success of diverse learners. In this role, you will design and deliver strategic academic literacy and numeracy programs that are integrated into the curriculum, enabling students to thrive in their studies.

  • Part-time: 0.7 FTE / 25.375 hours per week
  • Continuing position
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
  • HEWL 8: $108,964 - $125,126 (pro-rata) per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • 2.75% pay increase on 31 December 2025

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Learning Advisor, you will collaborate closely with academic staff to develop innovative, data-informed learning resources and course content. You will deliver tailored support through student consultations, engaging workshops, and informative staff sessions, all aimed at building academic capability and confidence. Your role will be essential in ensuring that language and learning support is embedded systematically and strategically, in line with the guidelines of the Association for Academic Language and Learning (AALL).

Demonstrated English as a Second Language (ESL) experience in  a Tertiary setting is highly desirable.. Additional capability in teaching or applying statistics is also considered an asset. 

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

To be successful in this role, you will have a Masters degree or a related field. Showcasing your commitment to academic excellence, the role requires comprehensive knowledge of higher education policy, along with experience in creating, leading and evaluating educational programs that deliver measurable outcomes. You will bring exceptional communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Your advanced digital literacy and proficiency with learning technologies will support your ability to deliver engaging, accessible learning experiences. Experience in cross-cultural communication and a commitment to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education outcomes is highly regarded.

With a focus on transformative education experiences for our students, the directorate delivers education and learner development capacity-building services focusing on student-centred curriculum, assessment design and digital learning; recognises and supports innovation in teaching; maintains learning analytics to inform review and evaluation processes across course, subject, educator, and student learning experiences ensuring alignment with regulatory standards; oversees student and academic policy and procedures; and delivers curriculum management and accreditation services
